What is the art class grading policy?

Your entire grade is based on participation and class projects & assignments (good news--no homework!).

Participation
Class Projects/Assignments

Each day of class, students will earn participation points on 1-10 point scale. 10 = 100

10-point participation =
• Student is prepared and on time for class.
• Student follows classroom and school rules, and demonstrates PBIS qualities: Respect, Responsibility, Character
• Work habits: The student follows through on all tasks and spends ALL of the work time WORKING.
• Studio habits: Student contributes to discussions, clean up, and whole-class activities.

*Remember our PBIS goals and show
FORD-ITUDE: Respect, Responsibility, Character!

Art projects are graded using a scoring rubric. Points total 100. Project grades are based on:

EFFORT- Doing your best, overall participation
SKILLS- Completing learning tasks/assignment, understanding concepts, demonstrating techniques
CREATIVITY- Using your own ideas and problem solving
CRAFTSMANSHIP- Neatness, presentation, proper use of materials

See below for a scoring examples.

What if I don’t finish my class work?

• Missed or incomplete work MUST be made up as soon as possible. Unfinished work effects your grade.
• Points might be taken off if a project is completed late.
• Students are encouraged to stay after for extra help!
See After School Help info.

What may I do when I am done with my work early?

If you finish your art class work early, then CONGRATULATIONS, you have "free time" in class!
This must be spent doing some type of art activity of your choice.
There is a poster with suggested activities in the art room, or click HERE for a list.

If using the art room computers to go online (ask first!), you may visit ONLY the links/sites posted on this web page.
All free time computer activities should be art-related. Please ask permission before printing anything.
